TREATMENTS

Laser Hair Removal…

Get fast and effective results with the OR-Light by Yperion.

There are a number of treatments that will get rid of unwanted body hair. However, most of these hair removal treatments do not produce permanent results, are painful to the patient and have to be repeated several times.

Imagine being free of unwanted hair. No more shaving, waxing or tweezing.

That is possible, with up to 30% reduction of unwanted hair after the first treatment with latest laser hair removal technology by Yperion, the OR- Light permanently reduces body & facial hair. Prevents the re-growth of hair, freeing you from the inconvenience of painful waxing or shaving and the constant worry of unsightly hair.

The effectiveness of the treatment is based on a simple schedule of repeated laser treatments spaced over a 4 to 6 week period. The time gaps ensure that the hair follicles can be targeted in their growth stage, with their removal at this early stage causing a gradual reduction in hair growth and a long lasting smooth hairless appearance.

8 treatments are required depending on the individual, their hair and skin type the area being treated . After a treatment the hairs generally take up to 2 weeks to grow out and will eventually fall out in patches. Hairs also grow out finer as you progress with the treatments.

Shaving in between treatments is recommended as this aids with the shedding of these hairs and shaving the area a day or 2 prior to your next appointment in order to activate growth for maximum effect with the laser. Once treatments are completed you may require a yearly maintenance treatment.

Laser hair removal is becoming increasingly common not just for the ladies but also for any man who wants to get rid of or reduce the amount of hair that they have on their body. For men who suffer with ingrown hairs and shaving rashes on the neck area, a few sessions to reduce hair and ingrown hairs is proven highly effective. Other common areas are back of the neck, shoulders and back where its unreachable for the individual to remove themselves by conventional methods such as shaving or depilatory creams.

Frequently asked questions

Laser Hair Removal

How does it work?

Bursts of light at different wavelengths are delivered to the treatment area of the skin at pre-set lengths of time, calculated in milliseconds and called “pulse duration”. The light penetrates the skin, is absorbed by the melanin in the hair which turns it into heat, and conducted to the hair follicle whose temperature rises to the point of destruction.

How do we know the treatment worked?

Hair is detached from its nourishment but it still remains in its sheath during renewal of the epidermis (peeling). A light exfoliation 10 to 15 days after the treatment can speed up the shedding of hairs. In most cases client can pull out hairs easily using tweezers, this is proof of a good result.

How many treatments are needed?

Hairs can only be efficiently and permanently reduced when they are in the Anagen (growth) phase where they are attached to their roots and their nutrient source is active.

Approximately 20-30% of hairs on the body are in the “Anagen” phase at the same time, this explains why several treatments will be needed in order to achieve optimal results.

Depending on the individual an average 8 sessions should be sufficient to successfully remove most of the unwanted hair. Thereafter, and only if need be, 1 or 2 “maintenance” sessions could be planned at 1 year intervals to perfect treatment.

Who can be treated?

The darker the hair, the better the result. Light and fine hairs can take longer to be permanently reduced. White, grey or red hairs cannot be permanently reduced using this method. It is necessary to treat darker skin types with caution. Contra-indicated to pregnant and breast-feeding woman.

Are there any undesirable side effects?

The majority of clients do not experience any kind of side effect. Most of them can resume normal activities just after completing their session.

Does it hurt?

The sensation is that of an elastic band lightly snapped against the skin. For most people a lot less painful than waxing.

As each individual has their own level of pain tolerance, therefore sensitivity to light treatment varies from one individual to the other.

The sensation is extremely variable from one individual to another; it depends on:

  • individual sensitivity
  • The area of the body (the face is more sensitive than the legs, the centre of the face more sensitive than the sides of the face)
  • The skin pigmentation. The more the skin is pigmented the greater the epidermis will be heated. Light skins are the least sensitive.
  • The hair density. The more hairs there are per cm2, the greater the sensation of heat (density of a man’s beard 455 hairs/cm² and legs 50 hairs/cm²). This explains why the pain sensation diminishes with the number of sessions.
Is there any social downtime?

No downtime can be expected.
